My lawyer has to reply to the defense party by 7 September and I have contacted my lawyer via phone, emails and left messages in the voice machine but without any reply. Currently he is recovering from a surgery and I am not sure if we have enough time to reply the other party. I understand his situation. Is it possible to request for a delay in replying to the defense? I haven't discuss anything yet with my lawyer. What should I do? Any practical advise?
You should discuss this with your lawyer asap and ask him if he will be able to handle your case appropriately. If not, he or she must be replaced. It is your own responsibility to have yourself represented by a lawyer in court.
