Dear Sir/Madam,

I handed in a shop my mobile phone in order to have it repaired. I spilled water on it a couple of days ago. The phone was working properly. It only had some problems displaying things in some cases. In their effort to open it, they totally broke the back cover and they broke the screen too. But the biggest surprise of all is that the phone was not working anymore so I lost all my data. And besides telephone numbers, documents etc, I lost important passwords for transferring money to the Netherlands from my country. At this time, the guy simply says that we didnt do anything to your mobile phone and when I asked for the employee that tried to fix, he said that h is on holidays for 14 days. Additionally, he just said bring your lawyer if you want to prove something. I bought the phone for 500 euro and despite any damage that the water caused, it was still working and parts of it like the screen have a really high value.

When did you purchased the Phone? If bought within 6 months the shop has to show evidence that the Phone was used properly and you are not blamed that the Phone was not working. In case they fail so, they have to compensate you regarding the defects, damage and the lost data.
I advise you to consult the general terms (also available in English if asked) before complaining at the shop. It is possible that they exclude compensation for actions of own risk.
