Hello,

I am Riccardo, expat from Italy.

I rent an apartment in Utrecht Overvecht. My renting contract will not be renovated by the housing company (Mitros). So I need to go out.

I would like to check if there are some rights I can claim to stay here a little bit more time.

Kind regards,
Riccardo

You have a first contract for max 2 years ? The Landlord had gave you a 3 months notice before the end of the date of the rental period ?

Hello Monique, thank you for the reply.

I try to explain the story. The landlord is Mitros housing company. https://www.mitros.nl/

My ex-partner was living into this apartment many years. She is the original person in the contract.

I moved in the apartment with her 3 years ago, I am regularly registered in the geemeente and in the contract. Mitros allowed this, adding me on the contract.

Then 10 months ago my ex left the Netherlands, she lives in USA. She was supposed to leave the apartment because the rent is not possible to be transferred directly to me (they have rules for how to access). But she was allowed to keep the rent for 12 months and sublet it to me., so we did this.

Now I wonder if I have any right to stay here a bit longer, or if there is no hope and I must go out.

Please let me know if I can provide any further information.

Thank you again,
Riccardo
