The conversation on June 7 was actually to let me know that they had thought about those extra days [suspension] and that my son was no longer welcome, in principle he should have been allowed to come back after talking about it after 1 day of suspension, but they had now decided to expel him from school. They told me that the parents of the boy who had fought with my son [and started it] had filed a complaint with the police and the school itself had reported the incident. Because they had had more days to think and discuss, they then decided that he was no longer allowed to come back. In principle he still had to go to school for almost 3 weeks, they consulted with the truancy officer and now they are pretending that he is ill. So he is allowed to stay away from school all that time. In the meantime they had sent me a letter [the school] that I had to sign, but I didn't, but they had already sent that letter to the compulsory education department, while I didn't agree with the content, I thought that was very strange. So I said that during the conversation of June 7, so after that conversation they sent me a second letter, which also contained things that I didn't agree with. So what I did myself, after the incident of June 4, was contact the GP, explained everything to him and asked if he thought it was a good idea to send my son to a therapist [where he had been before] he thought that was a good idea, so I got a referral letter and made an appointment with the therapist. I went with my son to the conversation with the therapist, the therapist thought that he could do nothing for my son and that the school had made a very quick decision to expel him from school for good. Now I have been back to the GP and explained to him that the therapist could do nothing, if my son still wanted therapy that had to be done somewhere else. I then looked something up on the website of the UMCUtrecht and there children up to the age of 18 are treated [my son has just turned 16 for 3 days]. There might be someone there who can teach him how to deal with that aggression. The aggression that the school experiences is only there and not at home. To give you an idea of ​​what my son has experienced. He has not had any contact with his biological father for 2 years, because he bullied and mentally abused him for years. The man has been given a contact ban by the court. He had contact with the man since he was 3 or 4 years old and only every 14 days from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening and half of the holidays. Then I had a son, who became ill at the age of two; acute lymphatic leukemia, he was ill for almost 7 years, not a day without chemo or medication, we tried everything, bone marrow transplant, radiation, medication under investigation, really everything, but it was to no avail, he died 4 weeks before his 9th birthday at the age of 8. My son had a hard time with that of course, that is nothing strange. So when things didn't go well at school last school year [truancy, bad grades] I went to school a few times to talk to the team leader, [that was someone else this year]. They thought that my son had been through too much at the time and that is why I went to youth care via the GP and then to pro persona [also a care institution like youth care] and also to the therapist where we had also been this time. The therapist at that time did a few sessions and after a while he found that my son no longer needed help, that they had discussed everything and that it was voluntary, so that it was over now. Then came youth care and that other thing, it was a joke all those times that we had been there, it had no use at all. So now that we were back at the GP this week, he didn't think it was a good idea to go through that process again, so now he's been registered for the UMC. I'm only doing that to show my good will [to the school] and because it's very annoying for my son, if he really gets angry that quickly and gets into trouble because of it, so we'll see what they think of it and whether it's any use. To get back to the current situation, legally speaking I don't know what to do to make things right for my son for the next school year. What I did read on the internet is that I have to write a letter within 6 weeks after the incident to object to the decision the school has made. The decision to expel my son from school is also, in my opinion, a point the school wants to make with regard to the boy's parents and therefore wants to set an example with my son.
