Today (Wednesday) we received a phone call that they could not understand why this door broke, and as compensation for what happened we are offered a free dinner by McDonald's. Should I agree to this? I hope that your daughter will not suffer any further consequences.\n\n In this type of injury cases, two types of damage can occur, namely material damage, i.e. extra costs that you have to make, and immaterial damage, also called pain and suffering. In the Netherlands, it is not customary for high pain and suffering claims to be awarded.\n\n It is not clear from your story whether your daughter suffered any injuries other than the head wound. It is also unclear how big your daughter's head wound is and whether she will have a permanent scar.
