Rental law and bailiffs: Legal advice
Questioner
I rented a house together with my ex-partner; now we have separated and I have left the house and registered myself again with my parents in Nieuwegein. Now I have been approached by a bailiff that the rent in my old house is not paid by my ex-partner, I have gone to court for that and all. I am also being looked at because I never terminated the rent. I knew nothing about this and no one around me knew about this. I also informed the housing association about this, but they say that I was simply responsible for the rent all this time until 18-08-2016, I am still responsible for the rent, even though I was already evicted on 05-04-2016.Lawyer
The question is not so much whether you have been deregistered from the home, but whether you are a party to the tenancy agreement. Have you been summoned by the bailiff and has a verdict been given in a lawsuit against you? In the latter case, you will have to pay or appeal, which you can best discuss with a lawyer.Neem de volgende stap
