Rental dispute: Energy costs & Landlord
Questioner
We rented a house from 15 January to 31 May 2016. I recorded the initial and final readings of the meters (electricity and water) together with (a representative of the landlord) and we both signed for this. The landlord does not dispute the readings of the meters either. The rental agreement also includes the advance payment amount for energy per month. There was also mutual agreement on this. We now receive a statement of the meter readings from the landlord, which runs from 1 December to 1 June 2016. The landlord now says that we have actually used exactly the amounts that we paid as an advance and that 'she will cover the period from 1 December to 14 January'. However, I would like to have an overview from her of the actual costs for the period from January 15 - May 31, 2016. That seems reasonable to me! The landlord is now going through all sorts of hoops because she apparently cannot comply with this. An additional problem is that the landlord has now moved to Portugal. I sent an email to Eneco and Vitens requesting them to calculate the details for me, but they are bound by legal provisions. What next?Lawyer
As long as the landlord is in default, because he does not want to provide an overview, that excuses your default. Of course, you must put the landlord in default. If you wish, you may contact me directly.Neem de volgende stap
