Division of Estate and Contents Insurance - Legal Advice
Questioner
I recently got divorced. We are now in the middle of the division of the estate. I have a piece of land in my name in (SUR) and it falls within the community of property. I now also live there. My ex-husband still lives in the Netherlands in the previous house. All our household effects are still there. He claims that the household effects are worthless and would not even give them to a homeless person. I know that this is not the case and even have recent photos to prove that this is not the case. We also had a household contents insurance policy in which our household effects were insured up to 30,000 euros. It was taken out with Interpolis via the Rabobank. The premium is still being paid. Now I would like to have proof of this for the case. The policy, that is. But they refuse to give me access because I did not take it out. The Rabobank then asked my ex-husband for permission, but he also refuses. Don't I simply have the right to also have access to what was 'our' insurance at the time? What are my options in this regard?Lawyer
