My question is, my first 6-month contract expires on 31-08-2016. My boss has not said a word about this yet, on my pay slip it says I left employment on 31-08-2016! But I am scheduled for September 1, 2, 3, 4, is this allowed? And you can just be switched from 8 to 4 pm.

Your boss is supposed to inform you at least one month before the end of a temporary employment contract about what is going to happen. If he does not do this, he is liable to pay compensation for each day that he is late. If he does not inform you at all, but simply leaves everything as it is, then you will be employed by 20:00 per week on 1 September. You cannot simply be put back, but adjustments can be made to the contract after consultation.
