Legal advice on housing allocation
Questioner
I am a student and looking for a house/room. Now I am registered with (housing association), a housing association. You can respond to houses on their website and they can be assigned to you. I responded to a property. Then I received an email to confirm that I was still interested in this property. I confirmed this. 2 days later, I get a phone call. The house has been assigned to me, I just need an intake interview to justify that I can pay for the house, and then the house is basically mine. I make an appointment for this intake interview and I am very pleased because I know that I have my finances in order. I am called back 2 days later by (housing association). They made a mistake; the house is already insured and accidentally ended up on the website again. (I find this a bit of a suspicious story but oh well) I ask if they can do anything else for me, the lady on the phone says doubtfully that if another home becomes available in this same residential group, I might be able to be assigned this one. She would call me back, and I'm still waiting for that. But I was wondering; where am I now? Are they obliged to show me a home or can they just call me later and fob me off? I think this is a pretty big mistake.Lawyer
That is also true, a serious mistake, and in principle both tenants have equal rights to the rental property, but the landlord has already made a choice. You could address the mediator about the mistake and that you have incurred costs in connection with this and that you expect a return service. (earlier allocation to a vacant property or a property that is not yet offered on the website so that you have first choice) In my opinion, nothing more is possible.Neem de volgende stap
