Unjustified compensation for car rental?

Questioner

Recently I rented a bus from a company because I was moving. The choice of the company was rather naive, because they were cheap and their buses had stickers with the Kassa logo on them. The move went well, the bus was returned after closing time (this was possible) and the keys were neatly returned. The next day my voicemail was left saying that I had parked the bus very close to another bus and that there was damage. A scratch above the rear wheel. Cost €250. However, I am certain that we did not hit anything (and if the bus was that close to the other bus, where is the damage on the other bus?). A quick internet search shows me that the company often finds this kind of 'damage'. The check before I got the bus was cursory, but I did not notice the scratch then. When I wanted to pay and asked if I could see the damage, the bus was unfortunately rented out and I had to come back another time. I seriously have the feeling that they have unfairly charged me for the costs and my question is whether anything can be done about this?

You have already accepted the damage by paying for it. What is also a fact is that you will have to prove that the 'damage' was not present when returning the bus. What should also have happened is the duty of investigation, of returning the bus. This was not met, and then the rental company commits a breach of contract against itself, because of a shortcoming.
