Legal advice on shift work problems

Questioner

At my current employer I started with a contract in day shift (1 year) with a permanent appointment my function would change, and I would specifically work in 2 shifts. I had indicated that I did not want to work night shifts. My contract was extended to only indicate the 2 shifts. (nb my colleague with whom I work the 2 shifts has a contract that also states that other shifts are possible. So different from my case.) Now the employer wants to go to 3 shifts. So night shifts, which I don't want. Can the employer force me to go to this 3 shift system?

Lawyer

The employee must usually comply with a reasonable request from the employer. There is a basis for requiring your employer to adhere to the 2-shift system. I recommend recording something like this. This is a good basis for sending a note. I have done this before.

What is meant by 'This is a basis for sending a note.'?

I recommend filing an objection. For an A4 with reasons you can contact me.
