Legal Advice for Incorrect Purchases

My parents' TV remote control stopped working. My father has no interest in technology and takes the remote control to the store where the TV was purchased. A new remote control is ordered for him there. Later at home he discovers that the batteries were dead. They forgot to cancel the order. Two weeks later the store calls that the remote control can be picked up. The fact that the old one works fine again does not matter, ordered is ordered. (The order has not yet been paid: €90) My parents are just in their 80s. What can my parents do? I think this is a mistake. I think a salesperson in an electronics store would have known this. The batteries are the first thing that comes to mind.

Not very nice, that's why your parents could maintain their defense that they entered into the legal transaction (purchase) due to a misunderstanding that could have easily come to light. Instead of the remote control they may be allowed a voucher..,...
