Questioner

Can you be put in a completely different role at work without having underperformed or functioning poorly? I was hired with a different job description on my contract. I always did business intelligence development And because we are getting new ERP software, it is being put in a helpdesk/support function. No longer work with databases or business intelligence software, but have to answer the phone and support people for the ERP software. There is a vacancy in the parent company But I am not allowed to fill that in because For me a totally nonsensical reason... That I first have to learn that ERP software from the inside out.. A new employee is also not familiar with that custom ERP software package when he starts working. So why can't I continue to play my own role? Can I do something with this? Should I just accept this? I have read that You should be cooperative with the employer in such cases... personally I don't think this is fair this way..

In principle, you can hold your employer to your contract. It is true that the employer must comply with a reasonable request from the employee. I advise you to argue that you want a different function. I have done that before.
