Hotel Claimants: Legal Advice for Bicycle Theft

Questioner

Our bikes were stolen from the shed of the hotel during a night at the hotel. We had locked the bikes, the owner did not lock the shed. He cannot claim it from his home contents insurance. We hold him responsible because we were not allowed to put the bikes in the room, AND the owner treated us very rudely when we discovered the theft. No sympathy, helpfulness or apology could be expressed. We were duped for 4000 euros (2 new racing bikes) plus our entire weekend away was ruined. How can we recover (part of) the damages from the hotel?

Lawyer

The owner has set conditions for the storage of your bicycles, legally he is the custodian and he must carefully and as a good father take care of and behave towards the things under his care of his guests. Now that he has not locked the shed he is in breach of contract and he is liable for all damage REGARDLESS of whether he is insured or not. You may contact me.
