Legal advice on contracts and dismissal

Questioner

Officially my contract expires on November 1st.. I have had a one year contract once and an 11 month contract once.. now my boss has indicated that they want to extend my contract but that I will be transferred to payroll, this means that legally I will leave their employment and enter Payroll's employment. I have thought about this again and do not want to agree to it. But are they officially too late to fire me because this should have happened before October 1st. Do you happen to know what my rights are at the moment if they were to fire me now if I discuss this with them on Wednesday?

Lawyer

I suspect they will let the contract expire and not fire you. They don't have to offer you a new contract. Payrolling also has drawbacks for your employer. Depending on your motives, I would recommend making a counter-proposal. I have submitted one before.
