Legal advice for rental company: reclaiming deposit
Questioner
Hello, I have finished renting a house and did not receive my deposit back, they claim some damages which can't be as high as the deposit but the prices haven't been specified. They are not responding to emails and phone calls. What can I do? Thank you!Lawyer
This it how it works: when a landlord before the renting period has shown a list of the items in the house and the state of the house, and went through it after the renting period, and there is damage then he can claim it. If there isn't such a state , he cannot claim damage before he proves you had caused it. The law turns the duty of proof in evidence to the landlord without a list. You have the right to the deposit. If you do admit the damage but not the prices you have to ask specifications, and the landlord must give you the oppertunity to do it yourself for lower costs.Neem de volgende stap
