Dispute with teacher My teacher slammed my book shut because I was reading during class and not paying attention, according to him. Now my first question is: is it allowed to touch other people's property? And my second question: does this also apply to the situation mentioned above? I believe that my teacher had no right to touch my book (personal property), despite the fact that, according to him, I was not paying attention.

Lawyer

Your teacher has authority over you because he is trying to teach you something. If you are not paying attention, he may make this known by notifying you that you are 'absent'.
