Contract extension and rights at work

Questioner

I have a question about my contract extension. I started at my employer on May 18, 2015 via an employment agency. As of October 19, 2015, I was offered a one-year contract. This has now been extended as of October 19, 2016 until May 19, 2017. (according to my manager, to reach the maximum of 2 years temporary, after which a permanent contract can be offered?) So if I work until May 18, 2017, that is 2 years and 1 day. The contract should have run until May 17, 2017. Error in my favor? Can I do something with this?

If you work for more than 24 months, you are entitled to the transition payment. This will help you find another job. Your employer does not have to wait until after 2 years to offer you a permanent contract; this is always possible.
