Sometimes you do not need an environmental permit. For example, for normal maintenance or placing a dormer window at the back of your home\n \nAll permit-free situations are listed in Appendix II of the Environmental Management Act (Bor). 'main building: building, or part thereof, that is necessary for the realization of the current or future destination of a plot and, if more buildings are present on the plot, is the most important in view of that destination'.
