The handyman suggested making a cove around this because it could not be concealed behind a lath. For the rest of the ceiling edge he wanted to use corner decorative laths. I agreed: as long as the sloppy gaps were no longer visible.\n When I got home I saw that a cove had been made and on three sides decorative strips along the ceiling. But: with enormous gaps, now between decorative strip and wall and decorative strip and ceiling! Viewed from below you can see gaps of sometimes one and a half cm.  \nI told him that the idea was to be able to paint 'gap-free'. He said that the house is crooked and a straight batten can never connect to a crooked wall\/ceiling without gaps.... I told him that I had not made any progress with this in terms of 'paint-ready'. According to him, I had, because he had now made it 'sealed-ready', which it was not before. I asked him to then carry out that sealing as a finish for the placed battens and in the spirit of what my assignment was. He said that sealing falls under painting.\n All in all I am left with larger gaps that I am not happy with. The quote did not say 'sealing gaps' but 'boards of finishing strips'... Is he right and can I not expect him to make my room gap-free?\n\n\u003ch4\u003e Lawyer\u003c\/h4\u003e \nHere I see a difference of knowledge and therefore of opinion arising between the handyman, who should have knowledge, and you. The former should have asked questions beforehand to at least make sure that what you wanted was clear so that he could have told you that it might not be technically possible.\n\n Perhaps you could request a second quote to see if what you want is\/was really possible.
