There were no details about the location of the new kitchen or what it would look like. However, the first parts have been installed in the hallway, which seems like an odd place for a kitchen.\n \nBecause the renovations started suddenly and fell in the middle of exam week (late January), we asked if they could stop. We also requested a written plan detailing the renovations and the schedule before proceeding. We haven't received a response yet, but the work did pause for a while.\n\n Last weekend (February 15, 2020), someone came into our house again and left behind all sorts of construction debris. A message about this to the landlord resulted in an aggressive email with numerous threats.\n\n So we've asked twice for more information and offered to discuss the matter. We haven't received a positive response either way. This is only permitted if there are serious unavoidable events. Your landlord is also required to inform you in advance of the planned construction, in order to ensure your enjoyment of the property. It appears your landlord isn't taking you seriously and is pursuing his own interests. A letter from a lawyer can change your mind and remind him of his obligations.
