She determined this division herself and admitted that she adjusted it to her advantage when her previous roommate moved out.\n\n So she lowered her own rent and raised it for the new tenant (me). This division isn't contractually agreed upon, as we only have a shared lease on the entire apartment with the landlord.\n \nShe's not the main tenant, and we're both on the lease. Does she have the right to determine this division, or does the standard points system apply?\n\n I would like to hear what my\/her rights are in this regard.\n\n Thank you in advance.\n\u003ch4\u003e Questioner\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n I think you need to separate two aspects: the obligation to pay rent to the landlord, and the internal division of rent payments between the two tenants. That's none of the third party's business. (It's conceivable, and often happens, that there are two tenants, one of whom contributes nothing.) I don't think you can do anything with the internal agreements under tenancy law. Unless you want to label the agreement as an abuse of rights or authority, or circumstances, or mistake against your co-tenant.
