Ex doesn't want to return horses.

I was in a relationship for almost 1 year We lived together in France because the man lives there (officially registered in the Netherlands) When I moved, my horses and belongings came with me. Now this relationship has broken down and I have returned to the Netherlands and would arrange transportation etc. to collect my belongings and horses. I did, I'm going to pick them up on Saturday. But now he starts that I have to pay back all the expenses that he voluntarily made during our relationship, otherwise he won't give me the horses. This can't just happen, they are my horses, I have the passports myself and everyone knows that they are mine. I am indeed planning to pick them up on Saturday. I think I have the right to do so, don't I?

If he still refuses to give them up, a lawyer may be able to break through that fit, by first writing to him and asking him if he would like to give them up voluntarily and if he does not do so, to take legal action in summary proceedings and then request the court to return the horses on payment of a penalty.
