Can a manager refuse a visit to the company doctor?
Questioner
I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and I work in childcare. Due to regular hard bellies and bleeding, the midwife has advised me to take a week off and, if the hard bellies decrease, to look at options with the company doctor so that I can work as long as possible. However, my manager does not want this and wants to look at a build-up schedule with me first. My question: can a manager refuse a visit to a company doctor?Lawyer
If you are incapacitated for work (ill) as an employee, for whatever reason, your employer may not assess your illness, but this must be done by the company doctor. In this case, there is illness and you have an expert (the midwife) who has advised you to take rest. Furthermore, the advice is to look at the possibilities with the company doctor. You may then follow this advice and your employer must comply with it. The build-up schedule will only be discussed if the company doctor says that this is possible and permitted. In short, your employer may not refuse a visit to the company doctor in this case. Good luck with the pregnancy!Neem de volgende stap
