Immediate dismissal or sick leave?

Questioner

I handed in my resignation yesterday because the workload is too high and the hours I work are too much. Now I know that I have a notice period of 1 month that starts on the 1st of the following month. June 1 would therefore start my notice period. But at the moment I am already on the verge of being overstressed and I really can't continue. I would therefore like to ask whether it is better to report myself sick until my notice period is over, or to resign immediately and not go to work from tomorrow. I have to choose one of the two options from my parents, who think that I cannot and should not go to work at this company again.

Have you already given unambiguous notice? In the event that you report sick after giving notice, you will lose your entitlement to any unemployment benefit or sickness benefit, as the UWV considers this to be a detrimental act. By giving notice yourself (during illness), you are culpably unemployed. You may be able to discuss taking vacation days with your employer so that you will not actually work until the end of your employment. If you would like assistance in communicating with your employer to terminate your employment, you can contact them. We can then look at the options with you, as this also depends on your employment, etc.
