How can I take further action against a company after a notice of default has not been responded to?

Due to the death of my mother, her house had to be cleared. I made a choice from a number of quotes. After the eviction, it turned out that some of the agreed work had not been carried out. I tried several times to contact this company to have the work done before the handover of the keys, but I did not receive any response. The result was that I had to pay the housing corporation to do the work, and of course I overpaid the eviction company because they did not act according to the quote. I have already sent a formal letter of default, but no response to that either. So I want to take this company further, not just because of the money, but mainly because I find their actions truly scandalous. What else can I do?
