VAT levy for consumers
Questioner
Our chimney has been repaired, the agreed price was 800 euros. The invoice suddenly shows 21% VAT on those 800 euros. I have found various information that the supplier should have reported in advance how he wants to settle the VAT, and not as a surprise afterwards. There is no written agreement about those 800 euros, only verbal. I have now paid 800 euros and explained why. Now the mason responds with: 'okay then I will submit the invoice to the bailiff'. Does he have a point and do I still have to pay the VAT or am I within my rights?Lawyer
