Our father passed away more than 3 months ago, we rejected the inheritance and also that of our minor daughter. We received the deed of rejection. My father has a brother, who recently received a letter from the tax authorities as my father's heir. Is this correct? My questions are: -When does the registration period start because my father passed away more than 3 months ago but we recently received a ruling. -Do all potential heirs have to renounce?

If there are no more heirs in the direct line (children, grandchildren), the collateral line (e.g. father's brother) comes next as heir. So the tax authorities have ended up with that brother. If he does not want that, he must also reject. I do not understand what you mean by registration period. Can you explain that further?
