Holiday consequences for Wajong benefits?

Questioner

I have an old Wajong, without the ability to work. Now I want to go on holiday abroad for about six weeks in a row. I just can't find anywhere whether this is allowed, and if it is allowed, whether there are consequences for my benefits. For example, that I will then be cut or perhaps not receive any benefits at all during that period. Do I have to report this to the UWV? Or can I just go on holiday?

Lawyer

There are indeed certain rules when it comes to staying abroad for people who receive a Wajong benefit. According to the information from the UWV, the following applies: If you receive a Wajong benefit, you may stay abroad for a maximum of 13 weeks per year without this having consequences for your benefit. If you stay abroad for longer than 13 weeks, the UWV will stop your Wajong benefit. It does not matter whether you do this continuously or spread it out over the year. Before you go on holiday, you must report this to the UWV. This can be done via the online reporting form 'Holiday abroad' on the UWV website. You can also report this by telephone. Please note that this is an orange peel, so there may be specifics or exceptions that apply to your situation. It is therefore wise to contact the UWV or a lawyer or attorney to get more detailed and personal advice. Please note: this information is based on the situation at the time of writing. Regulations may change in the meantime, so always check the latest information. ---------------- Stichting Rechtswinkel.nl is a national organization with students and volunteers.
