Housing association liability in case of burglary

Questioner

I rent a house in Gorinchem from the housing association Poort6. On February 26th, my house was broken into, and electronics worth €1,500 were stolen. A police report was filed. When they filed the report, the police stated that the lock on the front door was not burglar-proof in any way, therefore having no extras, making it very easy to break in. My question: Is it possible to hold Poort6 liable for the damage I suffered because I don't have home contents insurance to recover damages?

Questioner

Dear questioner, Successfully suing the housing association seems like a very difficult matter to me. First of all, the locks don't need to be extra burglar-resistant, and secondly, your damage is attributable to the fact that you didn't have insurance. So no good news. yours sincerely,
