Car Liability: Ask your brother for compensation

I tried to help my brother with the car, and now I'm in trouble. My brother doesn't care that I have to pay for the fines he incurred. There's absolutely no cooperation in finding a solution! Can I hold my brother liable for the damages? The total amount is approximately €3000, of which I have already paid €2000.
