Rights After Divorce: What You Need to Know

Questioner

My mother-in-law passed away and divorced her husband in 2011. Her ex-wife is now asking for possessions he wants, which he claims are his according to the divorce settlement. I've reread it, and it mentions half of the tools, so we don't know what half is. He also mentions other things that aren't even described for either of them. I find it strange that, after a year and a half, he suddenly discovered that some of his belongings were left behind after the divorce. Is he still legally entitled to these possessions, even though he hasn't collected them for a year and a half?

Questioner

In principle he is entitled to this, but I would appraise the tools and then give him half of the value in items (because it is no longer possible to determine what they meant, I would do this in all fairness).
