Compensation for Past Due Accounts
Questioner
Hello. I've been with my boyfriend. While we were living together, I paid off a significant amount of overdue bills for him, and my savings account emptied. There was a large amount in it. Now we've agreed that he would pay me back. We broke up two weeks ago. He's really struggling, but I want my money back. He also says he'll give it back to me. Can I have that documented? That he signs for me to get the amount I want back. I can't trust him to keep paying me back for years, and I'd prefer it documented.Questioner
Dear questioner, You can still draw up an agreement specifying the loan amount, principal amount, and dates, as well as how you intend to arrange repayments and what to do if your ex-boyfriend fails to meet his obligations after a certain number of months of unpaid debts. Both parties must sign. If you wish, I can help you draft the agreement.Take the next step
