Legal advice for gym memberships

gym Can I cancel after signing a two-year subscription? I have been exercising there for 3 months and currently earn too little?Lawyer
In your case, you have a fixed-term subscription (2 years) and this means that you must adhere to the notice period included in the general terms and conditions. Only when you take out a subscription for an indefinite period can it be cancelled free of charge with a maximum notice period of one month. Interim cancellation is probably only possible by paying for the remaining months. I therefore advise you to check what is stated in the general terms and conditions and/or to contact the gym owner. Perhaps he is willing to still renew your subscription free of charge in the event of special circumstances to stop.Questioner
I thought that you could cancel per month due to the new Dam law. I entered into this in February 2012. I would like to hear from you. BvdLawyer
No, unfortunately this law only applies to the extension of the contract. Only then can you cancel monthly. However, it has also been arranged that for agreements that last longer than 1 year, it can be seen as unreasonable that one cannot cancel them monthly after 1 year. The supplier can therefore have good reasons to stipulate a term longer than 1 year, for example because of a free mobile phone with a 2-year subscription. I don't see that happening at a gym so quickly. Perhaps you had a number of free lessons in the beginning or something like that why it would be reasonable to stick to 2 years. If not, you can cancel after the first year.Take the next step
