Contesting dismissal? Discover your rights!
Questioner
Hello, The company where I work is laying off 150 people. I have now received two letters from the company which literally state that my position will be retained and is therefore not included in the reorganization. And now it is said that due to an additional decision my position will be terminated as of January 1, 2015. Is there a way to contest my dismissal as of January 1st? Because they first promise that it won't affect me and then they fire me anyway, it's in black and white. I'd like to hear from you.Lawyer
If the company wants to fire you without your consent, they'll either have to go to court or to the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV). If they do, you'll have the opportunity to voice your opinion. Only then will a decision be made. In addition, you can decide in mutual consultation with your employer to terminate the employment contract through a so-called settlement agreement. In any case, I advise you to engage an employment law attorney to assist you.Take the next step
