Dentist's liability: get compensation

Questioner

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, the dentist stitched the holes incorrectly. Because of this, I had to make an emergency appointment with a different dentist that evening. It turned out that there were still remnants of my molars in the holes, and my cheek had also been cut open. All in all, a lot of stitches and a hefty bill that wasn't necessary. I have supplemental dental insurance, so I was (fortunately) partially reimbursed. But now my question is: Can I hold the dentist liable for this and pass the bill on to them?

Lawyer

That's certainly possible. I believe the dentist was negligent, as he didn't carry out the instructions to extract your wisdom teeth in a manner that would be expected of a reasonably competent dentist. Since you suffered damage as a result, the dentist is liable and therefore obligated to compensate you for the damages you suffered. If you wish, I can help you draft a claim for damages against the dentist.

Lawyer

Day, Yes, that's very careless of the dentist. I think you can claim damages. on the grounds of breach of the medical treatment agreement.
