Help with CJIB Fines and Payment Arrangements
Questioner
Good afternoon, Received a letter from CJIB that I have to pay a large amount of a fine from 7-2011. 1140.00 euros And if I do not pay within the set period, I have to hand in my driver's license for 4 weeks. I have already indicated that I cannot pay the payment in one go. And that I need my driver's license for my work. I drive from location to location on an on-call basis. Furthermore, last summer I already paid a large amount of 1750.00 to customs for a traffic fine. And this fine is from before this time. I don't know what to do at the moment.Lawyer
Legally, there is nothing more to be done about this, all deadlines to file an objection/opposition have now expired. The CJIB has tried to collect the fine for two years, it is so high due to the collection and bailiff costs. The collection apparently did not work. The next step is indeed to confiscate the driver's license, followed by the decommissioning of the vehicle and a possible seizure (imprisonment) until you pay. The seizure does not cancel the fine. I strongly advise you to either make a payment arrangement with the CJIB or to try to resolve the matter through debt counselling.Take the next step
