Parental Leave and Sickness: Your Rights
Questioner
I have split my parental leave into parts and my employer has agreed to this. The first part is over and now I have called in sick My employer says that I cannot cancel my leave, but I read on various sites that this is possible and that the remainder is retained, provided that you have requested your leave in pieces. What is the current situation and how will my salary be paid? What am I entitled to?Lawyer
You indicate that you are not currently on parental leave. This is therefore not (yet) a case of illness during parental leave (in which case the leave will continue). This is a case of already planned future parental leave. In that case, you can - but you must do so at least four weeks before the leave starts - inform your employer that you do not want to take it at that moment, but later.Take the next step
