Legal Assistance for Unpaid Debt

Questioner

Dear Sir/Madam, I sold my car to a friend of mine a while ago and he signed a contract with me that he would pay for a certain period of time but to this day he still has a debt of a certain amount. Every time he promises money but always comes up with an excuse. I am quite fed up with this can you tell me what I can do about this and what my rights are? Because I think I have given him enough time now. I hope you can help me!

You should start by sending him a letter, preferably by registered mail, asking him to pay within 14 days. If he doesn't pay, then you should put him in default and claim the statutory interest. If he still doesn't pay, then I advise you to send a reminder. If this doesn't produce any results, then you should summon him. If you don't want to do all this yourself, then I can help you with that.
