Advice on rejection of leave for vacation

Questioner

We have been refused additional leave for our son who is in primary school. This leave was requested because my employer requires me to go on holiday during a certain period outside the high season, and we therefore also submitted an employer's declaration with the application. This is also our only family holiday of the year. The holidays do not fall in the first two weeks of the new school year. We have applied this procedure in this way for several years and it has always been honored! However, now a rejection with the reason 'rejection due to compulsory education law'?

Lawyer

The government has given compulsory education officers the obligation to monitor luxury absenteeism more strictly. As a result, the compulsory education officers may have spoken more strictly to the schools about the fact that they are less likely to give students time off for a holiday outside the regular school holidays. If you do go on holiday without permission from the school, you are guilty of luxury absenteeism and there is a good chance that you will receive a fine for this. My advice is therefore to contact a compulsory education officer from your municipality and explain the situation to him/her.
