Statute of limitations on attorney fees: Do you have to pay?

Questioner

After more than 5 years we receive an invoice from a lawyer who arranged things for us. Do we still have to pay this after 5 years or is this about limitation?? We haven't had an invoice from him before about this matter?

Lawyer

The limitation period is five years. So if it is more than 5 years ago that the lawyer provided his services, you do not have to pay that anymore.

Questioner

He last contacted us by phone on April 21, 2009 and now we received an invoice on April 24, 2014. To pay within 14 days, that is longer than 5 years?

Lawyer

I would not pay the bill and indicate that the bill has expired.
