Buying a house and sharing costs: Legal Advice
Questioner
Hello, Our daughter bought a house together with her (ex)boyfriend. At the time it was agreed that each would bear half of the costs. Our daughter faithfully complies with this, but her ex-boyfriend does not. How can we ensure that she does not end up paying all the costs? The bank has already said that the mortgage cannot be split.Lawyer
If she pays costs that her boyfriend should have paid, it can at least prevent the house from eventually being sold by the bank. What she pays for him, she can then reclaim from him (right of recourse). She can possibly request compliance with the agreement between them in summary proceedings.Take the next step
