we rent from a private person. And now they want to renovate and want us gone. they have therefore offered us a severance premium. Now my question is what is the maximum premium they can offer.

There is no maximum moving expenses compensation. One must demonstrate personal use. Suitable replacement housing is also a strict requirement for the award of the claim and compensation for costs may also be an option - at the discretion of the judge. Landlord must offer/help find/demonstrate that tenant can easily find 'suitable alternative housing'. What constitutes suitable alternative housing depends on the circumstances of the case. It is considered what can be seen as suitable housing in the (wider) area in terms of size, rent, location, etc. Of course, personal circumstances also play a role, such as income, financial and social position, age, duration of occupancy, size of household and health.
