Rights in case of mold in rental property | Free advice

Questioner

Good afternoon, I live in a rental house where I have been complaining about mold in the kitchen and in my bedroom for over 1.5 years. I have already had to throw away a pair of uggs of €250,- which I did not get reimbursed because they were completely green with mold. My landlord did not want to give me any compensation for this. Now it is also starting to seep into my clothes, which will result in me having to throw them away as well. Besides the fact that this costs me my clothes and money, it is also incredibly unhealthy. My duvet is almost always clammy and damp, I sleep under it every night. Now I will get a new window frame in mid-September but until then I want an electric dehumidifier. My landlord does not want to cooperate with this, I have to arrange this myself if I want this. What are my rights and obligations here? Can I have a report drawn up at his expense to see if my room meets the requirements for humidity per cubic meter? And what can show that this is an unhealthy situation for which I pay rent?

Lawyer

You can report the defect to the rent assessment committee. Formally, you must first give the landlord a term (in writing) to remedy the complaints and if this does not happen, you can ask the rent assessment committee to determine the defect and to determine a temporary reduction in the rent. You can then temporarily pay a lower amount to the tenant until the defects have been remedied. You can also go to court with the claim to oblige the landlord to remedy the complaints, under penalty of a penalty. The procedure at the rent assessment committee is easier if you do it yourself; you can find all the information on the website of the rent assessment committee.

Thanks for your response. However, I rent it privately, is there still a rent committee? And he now throws it on that he will fix it mid-September and will therefore do nothing further while I have been complaining about this for 1.5 years. Can I still do something with this?
