Trial placement UWV: Can I refuse?

Questioner

I have been offered a job via the UWV with a trial placement of 2 months. A trial placement is for employees who have no experience in the relevant sector. I have years of experience in this sector. Yet they want to place me with a trial placement, is this allowed? And can I refuse this without having my unemployment benefit reduced?

Lawyer

The main rule is that work always takes precedence over benefits. The UWV may offer you this trial placement for that reason alone. The placement can also be seen as a trial period; whether or not you have work experience is at the discretion of the UWV. You cannot reasonably refuse the job now offered without running the risk of having your benefits cut or having them terminated.

Questioner

Yes I know. But a trial placement is meant for someone who has no experience and I do.
