Advice on Industrial Accidents
Questioner
My friend had a serious industrial accident 8 years ago, he fell 20 meters from a scaffolding. The company he worked for is liable and immediately admits guilt, because they did not know the word safety. If my friend had built the scaffolding himself, this would not have happened. He was in a coma, at first he would not survive, his skull was open and every bone in his body was broken or shattered plus the damage that you cannot see from the outside. Shortly afterwards the company went bankrupt. After a long period of rehabilitation he had to learn to walk again, talk, you name it, because he could not do anything himself anymore. That was a difficult time. 8 years later, and he is 100% disabled, his left hand does not really work, he can no longer smell or taste. Short of breath, no stamina, which causes him to hyperventilate with every effort. Now his mother has been busy with a lawyer for 8 years to claim compensation. Also because his WIA benefit is many times lower than his salary from 8 years ago. But no matter what they do, they don't get any further, every time they have an excuse, and that takes months, when you call they are simply not there. And if he has questions he can call me back, no that is not done, send an email, you don't get a response to that either. I think that is so rude. If only that program by Pieter Storms was still around. Because then doors would open. More than half a year ago he received a letter from them stating that he had to be re-inspected. But that was 7 months ago.. How long can this continue, it has to be dealt with at some point, what would you advise me?Lawyer
