LS, I wonder how long family (for example an adult sister or niece) is legally allowed to stay with you in your home. I live in a rental home. Can the housing association instruct me when guests have to leave the rental home again? And how long are they legally allowed to stay in my house? In principle, the landlord has no say in the guests who come to stay with you. There are also no legal rules for the duration of such a visit. If your guest registers at your address, there is no longer any question of staying with you. However, the landlord - and also the municipality - may set rules to prevent 'overcrowding'. If you rent a home that is suitable for 1 person, you may not - more or less - permanently let more people live there. You can find the rules in your rental agreement and in the landlord's rental conditions.
