Lost your German driver's license? Find out what you need!

Questioner

Lost German driving license I have had a German driving license since the beginning of 2011 because I lived there. Now I have lost the driving license. I live in the Netherlands again so I want to apply for a new Dutch driving license. But I seem to need something from Germany for that (Auszug aus der Führerscheindat or a certificate of authenticity WITH STAMP) I get different information from different agencies. What is correct?

This site is mainly focused on Dutch law, so I couldn't answer that. However, there is a lawyer/jurist on this site who is familiar with German law. You could look him up under the lawyers. He has a German-like flag as a profile avatar

Here is this German Rechtsanwalt [lawyer] ;-) If I am correct, the applicant wants to know what is needed in the Netherlands for a new Dutch driving license - so I think Dutch law is involved here. If this is not correct, please explain your question.

Questioner

Thanks for answering, but the problem is that I lost my German driver's license and apparently need something from Germany to hand in if I want to get a new Dutch driver's license. (besides a report from the Dutch police) Is it a 'declaration of authenticity'? What is that called in German and how do I get it?

According to German law, a “Karteikartenabschrift” is required from the government that once issued your driver’s license. This would be required if you moved within Germany and now another government would be responsible.
