Rights in case of termination of rental agreement - Ask for legal advice
Questioner
Good afternoon, I am a student and I will be doing an internship in Amsterdam starting in August. A while ago I registered at a studio student housing complex. The deposit I had to pay was 1200 euros. However, I cannot move into the house because the renovation has been delayed until November. My contract does indeed state that it may take longer due to the renovation. Unfortunately, I have to terminate my contract because I have been transferred to Den Bosch to do an internship there. I want my deposit back! With that money I can just find a room and be sure I can sleep somewhere, because this is just not possible. I have already contacted the owner of the building myself. He reports that I will have to pay a fine for terminating my contract. I have already had to buy a refrigerator, oven and such for my own studio apartment, which I cannot enter myself. What are my rights? Thanks in advance!Lawyer
